Recovery is one of the most important features of any workout if you want to train effectively and successfully. Did you know that a good recovery plan is essential for your muscles and tissues to repairs themselves and grow? Yep! That’s right. This basically means that all that effort you put into your exercise regime can partially go to waste if you don’t allow yourself to recover properly so hop to it and make a plan if you want to pump up those guns or loose that muffin top!
Your recovery plan should include the following features:
It’s important to replace the fluids you lost through sweating with water or an electrolyte drink
Eat up!
Your body needs to refuel and the best way to do that is with a meal including carbs and/or protein
Warm Down
Low intensity exercise, such as a jog, to gradually reduce your heart rate
Stretch out all those muscles to prevent the build-up of painful knots
Rest
Allow your body to recoup and repair itself at its own pace
Allow your body to recoup and repair itself at its own pace
(or a cold shower if it’s all you can manage) athletes swear by it to recover quickly and prevent injury as a result of the blood vessels constricting and dilating which promotes waste removal
